SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 31

Schoonover, Anderson, Bailey, Love, White, Jackson, Plymale,
Dittmar, Wooton, Sharpe and Tomblin, Mr. President)
Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to
conduct a study of automobile insurance rates in southern
West Virginia.
Whereas, Automobile insurance rates in southern West
Virginia are of concern to the Legislature of West Virginia; and
Whereas, The people of southern West Virginia deserve fair
and equitable rate setting with regard to automobile insurance;
and
Whereas, The insurance industry is vital to the economy of
West Virginia and must be accorded fair and equitable treatment
in the matter of rate setting; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby
requested to conduct a study of automobile insurance rates in
southern West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and
Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 1999,
on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its
recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct
this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary
legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint
Committee on Government and Finance.
